- Artist Statement -
We aren't always aware of the small, subconscious gestures, phrases, and mannerisms we each have. They make us unique, endearing, and oh so us. It had never occurred to me that I often ended my thoughts with, “Well, that is my Story,” until a friend gave me a bracelet with this inscription.
So, what is my story? I am an artist, a business owner, a daughter, a wife, a dog-mom, an activist, an aunt, a friend and above all, I strive to be a good human. The pieces in this exhibition express and represent various chapters of my life; some reflect earlier years, some current years, some are bold, some are bright, and some are blue. The common thread is me as the main character, the artist.
My hope for this exhibition is that you feel empowered to be the main character of your own story. In this collection I have created, I want you to feel more than what you see on the surface, for our stories are more profound, complex, and more colorful than a title or a label. We are forever changing and it’s important to remember that we shouldn’t be defined by just one chapter of our story. I believe as the years pass, we must keep dreaming bigger and bigger and that we never stop manifesting the life we want.
All of this makes up my story thus far. So…what is your story?
